A.S. Biological Sciences, Diablo Valley College, 2020

Jack is a second year Transfer student from the Bay Area. He is currently a Senior at UC San Diego pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. Jack’s research interests lie in uncovering the molecular mechanisms underpinning genetic diseases and the development of drugs and therapeutics that can be used to treat or cure them at the DNA, RNA, and protein levels. In the Yeo Lab, Jack is being mentored by Samuel Park and working with Alex Tankka and Sammi Sison on their projects using a newly developed technology in the lab called STAMP (Surveying Targets by APOBEC-Mediated Profiling) Project to identify small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of triple negative breast cancer, and eventually other neurodegenerative diseases. Outside of his classes, Jack is an Officer for UCSD’s Biological Sciences Student Association (BSSA) where he resides as the Chairperson for the Mentorship Committee. When he is not in the lab or studying, Jack enjoys training in Mixed Martial Arts, producing music, going to concerts, and reading.
